Mary, the Last Farewell

“Mary, the Last Farewell” is a fast paced journey through the life and loves of Mary, Queen of Scots, arguably Scotland’s most famous Queen and tells her story of her love for Scotland and for the men around her. It looks at the lives of Mary and Elizabeth I, two powerful women struggling to retain control of their nations and their love.

Mary was a passionate woman who had a mind and heart of her own, determined to rule but not always choosing wisely. Must a woman choose between love and power? This play by Suzanne Lofthus looks at Mary’s story through the complex power struggles around her, power struggles that remain to this day.

The play was directed by Jo Rush, Director who has worked with the Royal Lyceum, Dundee Rep and Traverse Theatres as well as being part of the Young Vic New Director’s programme.
